Waterproofing

When we talk about natural stone, we must understand that its durability over time depends very much on the protection that we, through certain processes and substances, can provide over time.

Waterproofing is the process by which materials such as brick, natural stone (marble, granite, travertine) and other solid materials become resistant and do not deteriorate upon prolonged contact with water or other liquids. The purpose of waterproofing is to combine materials to prevent water from entering the structural elements of the construction of a finished space.

Most problems with natural stone occur not with the stone itself, but with the porous material that holds it together. Unsealed material will quickly absorb water from rain and snow. When this moisture freezes and expands, it causes cracks and can even cause the entire structure to separate. Thus, the waterproofing process will stop the absorption of water and will prevent the damage of natural stone.

Stone waterproofing operations are mandatory both outside and inside. On the outside they offer protection against environmental factors, and on the inside we can protect the surface of natural stone from water, oils, acids, etc.
